What have we missed?) The U-Liners have a deep and eclectic repertoire, ideal for dancing or listening. Environmentally correct, Joe will walk to work for this gig. |

One Horse Town
Website: |
Winners of 2006 WAMMIE Best Album of the Year, this band can be an afternoon delight. Co-singers/songwriters Janet Emma Garbe and Julia Kasdorf discovered they had a knack for harmony singing and writing music together. They are joined by stellar "high lonesome" pedal steel man, Lynn Kasdorf, and inimitable lead guitarist, Stuart Martin. |

Mike Tash and the Bad Influence
Website:
|
This is a hard-driving, veteran blues band, filled with some of the area's mainstays. Past WAMMIE nominations include Best Blues Band (no surprise there!). Hopefully, Mike will be a bad influence in his debute at the TPSF.

Cletus Kennelly and Lori Kelley

"What's better than a good singer-songwriter?" writes Richard Harrington of the Washington Post. "Two singer-songwriters whose meshed voices seem built for close harmony." With nine WAMMIE Awards, including Best Contemporary Folk Group and Songwriter of the Year, they are joined on bass guitar and djembe by Lea. |

Waverly Milor and the Acme Blues Company
Website |
This band was a mainstay at the late roadhouse, Chick Hall's Surf Club. Waverly and Co. create the feeling of a packed juke joint. Acme's recently released released CD, "I Think I Made It" was nominated for a 2006 Wammie for Best Blues Recording.

Lea
Website |
Blending her musical upbringing of soul and gospel into a rich sound, Lea has been nominated for 5 WAMMIES for contemporary folk music. "Lea's voice, warm and captivating, is effortlessly woven into her compositions," according to On Tap Magazine. |

JP McDermott and Western Bop
Website: |
JP is back again with his fabulous retro vocals of rock-a-billy, roots rock and good ol' rock and roll. JP and the band do some mean Elvis covers. Request them and bring your dancing shoes. |

Lead guitarist, Michael, will do double duty today as his afro-beat, soukous-style band plays for the first time at the TPSF. The music will "Serge" forth in styles encompassing reggae and jazz as well. Listen to it here and get some Togo. |

Justin Trawick
Website: |
Winner of the 2006 Takoma Park Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition, Justin's songs are edgy yet polished, inspired but not navel-gazing. Spread the word: this man's for real. |

Tommy Lepson
Website |
Once again, the tradition continues. He's no Lazy Boy, and he is the prototypical amp fixer-upper when he's not out gigging on his keys, organ, with his trusty B-3 and spinnin' Leslie. Look for him to jump in with Principato and The Nighthawks (hint, hint).

Billy Coulter Band
Website |
Takoma Park resident, Billy Coulter, absolutely kicked butt at the Strathmore Dylan Tribute. You missed him there? Better catch him here.
Special guest Jon Carroll will join in on keys with Tommy, Chuck and Doug for a rockin' set.

Melanie Mason
Website |
A rare opportunity to catch Mel in a solo acoustic/electric gig. Yes, she's been compared to Bonnie Raitt, but we also compare her to the very great, male or female. She just made the finals at the Telluride Acoustic Blues Competition. |

Tom Principato
Website |
A chance to hear TP in TP! "Principato's blues guitar work at its most eloquent and expressive," Mike Joyce, of the Washington Post. Tom has too many awards to list. If you've never heard him, time to end that egregious mistake. Look for Tom to hang with The Nighthawks as well. |

Chopteeth
Website |
Afro-funk high life music, this is what a good time is all about. They'll have you dancing in the streets (and not just because they play in the street!). Fifteen musicians including vocals, percussion, horns, bass, guitars, kitchen sink, with one common goal. A very foxy Takoma Park bass player, indeed! |

Robert Lighthouse

A perennial favorite, mostly seen solo, Robert has been threatening for years to bring a band. And yes, folks, Robert will have his new CD here for sale. Swedish-born Robert's blues guitar gently Saabs! |

The Nighthawks
Website |
D.C.'s finest blues-rock band for the last 25 years. The Nighthawks have done a lot of gigs over the years and this is one of them! They'll turn the stage into a backroom brawlin', blastin' barrage of killer blues. |
